Movie Was Disgraceful

A few days ago I saw the movie “Flight.” The language was the most disgusting and repulsive of any movie I can recall.
The story is typically Hollywood. The hero, a family deserter (wife and son), an inveterate liar, an alcoholic, a drug addict, caused the death of six people and injured many more. Is this a great country or what?
Even worse, I felt insulted. Is this the way Hollywood sees Middle America? Or does it reflect their own values and lifestyle?

Mr. Henderson's verbal comprehension is clearly not in the 50th percentile or above. The character in Flight, the pilot, did not cause the death of any passengers. It is noted several times in the film that experts determined his actions saved the lives of almost all the passengers and crew. Several other expert pilots who flew the same model aircraft tried to do what this pilot did using flight simulators. All crashed and totally destroyed their "plane", killing all on board. Yes six people did die, including two crew, but over 100 passengers survived.
The cause of the crash was a bolt that broke during the flight, which made the plane too unstable to continue flying for long. The plane crashed because of a mechanical failure, not pilot error.
I can only speculate that Mr. Henderson's reading comprehension skills are probably sub-par was well, and thus lead him to speculate about "Hollywood's" values and lifestyle.
My suggestion, Mr. H is restrict you movie going to films that have a G rating, and don't ever watch the TV show, "Are you smarter than a 5th-grader?" You might not like how you do.

It's a movie, not reality. Didn't like it? Leave. Could have read the reviews, known what the film was about & it's content. Didn't do that? Beyond your capability? You're insulted? Blame the guy you look at in the mirror every morning.

I enjoyed the movie. I did find the female nude scene in the beginning to be way too long. (I can't believe I wrote that). I thought Washington put in a great performance. I agree with OP, there is no reason to be suprised at the story line of a movie these days when it is so easy to read a review or see a trailer. John Goodman was quite believable in his role. Far fetched? Yes, I think so but I enjoyed it and so did my wife. OP, have you ever flown upside down?

What a year we are going to have - I find myself in total agreement with jimt & OldPilot. Has Jupiter alined with Mars?

Didn't see Flight but I have to say too much salty language is a turn off for me too. It has its time and place. Overused, it just gets trashy.
