Switching Service

Why in the world would Time Warner choose to eliminate the Golf Channel as one of the seven channels they have moved to high definition only in order to speed up Internet service? I suspect it is because they know they are going to make more money.
I have spent an entire morning trying to figure out how we can get the Golf Channel on our HD TVs that are not connected to Time Warner’s DVR.
So far, the only thing I seem to have determined is that it is going to cost us more to get the same thing we have been getting.
Plus, we’re going to have to learn how to operate the televisions and remotes all over again, something that isn’t easy for old folks.
There is a new game in town, called Prism, from Century Link. I know people who use it and are happy with it. At the moment, the service seems to be better than Time Warner’s, as well.
Although switching would require a lot of work and learning new technology, with each day it becomes more alluring than having to deal with Time Warner.

I actually picked up the "free" "for two years" box. Took it back and told them they are doing me a favor by slowly getting me accustom to fewer and fewer channels. Eventually I will be tv free and a happier person for it. I,m just not going to pay more and more every year to get the same.

I couldn't agree more. Years of dealing with the greedy creeps has led me to the same conclusion.
