Rigsbee Receives Creative Writing Fellowship

David Rigsbee, a former professor at St. Andrews, is one of 40 recipients of a creative writing fellowship from the Washington, D.C.-based National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) announced the recipients of the 2013 Creative Writing Fellowships. Each will receive $25,000.

Rigsbee, a Durham native, has lived in Raleigh for 16 years and is the author of 20 books. His 2010 "The Red Tower: New and Selected Poems "(NewSouth Books) was awarded the Oscar Allen Young Award from the N.C .Poetry Society as best book by a North Carolinian in 2010.

His new collection "School of the Americas" (Black Lawrence Press) is being released soon.
