Hole-in-One: Nathan Continenza carded his first hole-in-one Nov. 25 at National Golf Club. Nathan used his 6-iron to cover the 140 yards to the ninth green. His playing partners were Justin White, Frank Gironda and Peter Zahran.
Midland: The Men’s Golf Association played a Nassau tournament Nov. 28 in a two best balls of the threesome format. The overall winners were Sam Ott, John Conroy and Joe Alden with net 126. Sam Ott won low gross with 75.
In a nine-hole skins game had the following winners: Derrick North on No. 12 and Bill Crenson on No. 14, and Ken Batchelder on No. 17. Bill Crenson won low net with 32.
Seven Lakes: The Nine Hole Lakers played their season ending competition Nov. 28, a scramble. The winning threesome was Judy Streit, Nancy Kling and Judy Hogan with a net 42.
On Nov. 27 the Women’s Golf Association held a match play competition: Roni Hann, Peg Ballew, Connie Galford, Grae Starwald, Donna McClung and Kathy Goodman.
Whispering Woods: The Men’s Golf Association played Nov. 23 in an individual low net contest. Ken Pomeroy was the winner with 68.
In a match play contest Nov. 26, the winners were Bud Henty over Tom Lyon, 6 and 5; and Joe Matejka defeated Charlie Brady, 1 up on the 18th hole.
On Nov. 28 the game was a team event with two low net balls and one gross ball needed for scoring on each hole. The winning team was Joe Layman, Al Gaeta, Joe Matejka and Bud Henty at 15 under par.
Southern Pines: Ann Kendall, with a net 69, came in first in the Par Seekers November member cup tournament. Sue McMullan had 70 net, and Bonnie Quesenberry had 78 net.
Knollwood: The Rainmakers played Nov. 26 in a captain’s choice tournament: Peggy Jones, Dee Hancock, Joan Mangrum, Liz Green and Eleanor Heron, 34; Penny Higgins, Judy Smith, Carolyn Crenson, Barbara Woodruff, Jo Ann Hoff, 37.
Pinehurst: The Birdies played Nov. 26 in a middle six format. One best ball was needed on holes one to six and 13 to 18, and two best balls on holes seven to 12. First – Shirley Potter, Judy Gemme, Mary Henry, Joan Sponik, 75. Second – Lisa Caruthers, Rhonda Brooks, Silvia Bisbe, 79. Third – Bonnie Hanly, Vera Pelekoudas, Roe Lyons, 80.
The Men’s Golf Association played Nov. 20 in a Nassau tournament. One best ball on odd holes and two best balls on even holes were needed for scoring. Competition was on Course No. 6.

The Silver Foils championship, reduced to one day due to inclement weather, was won by Flossie Parks with a gross score of 83. Cheri Guidice was second with a score of 88. The Silver Foils played Nov. 27 in a Pilgrims vs. Indians tournament. The Indians won with a team score of 119: Silvia Bisbe, Tricia Williamson, Cheri Guidice, Nancy Blum, Mary O’Malley, Cindy Motter, Sigrid Gross, Irene Corbin, Marilyn Thomas, Estelle Menke.
The Chippers played a captain’s choice Nov. 28 on Course No. 3. The winning team with a score of 47 were Tracy Nater, Margie Lavoie, Carol Wyatt.
The Women’s Golf Association played Nov. 29 on Course No. 1 and the format was two best balls on par 3s and par 4s and one bestball on par 5s. Lynn Delgarn, Jakki Whitten, Pam Carracino, Nancy Dorato, 115; Judy Gemme, Jan Kuklok, Lorraine Allie, Barbara McKitrick, 116; Rhonda Brooks, Mary Bartley, Billie Oxrieder, Jean Sundstrom, 117 (MOC); Joan Moynihan, M. Longleaf: The Men’s Golf Association completed its fall match play season with a playoff among division leaders to determine its grand champions. Marco Cantele and Richard Hallman defeated Jeff Mitchell and Fritz Baukhages, 2 and 1.
Wayne Hamblin and John Maher defeated Dennis Crook and Gary Carroll, 3 and 2. Cantele and Hallman defeated Hamblin and Maher, 3 and 1 to become the grand champions.
