The O’Neal volleyball team moved to 5-0 on the season Tuesday with a three-game sweep of visiting Cape Fear Academy.

The 25-9, 25-8 and 25-23 win over the visitors moved the Falcons to 2-0 in the Cape Fear Independent Conference.

Katja Ehlers led the Falcons with six kills and provided nine digs. Scottie McGowan had 14 assists and five kills. Avery Schaefer led the team with six aces and served for 16 consecutive points in game two. Andie Schiable, Taylor Shelton and Mary Winston Dozier had two kills each and Kelly Griffin contributed six digs to the Falcon cause.

In junior varsity action, O’Neal defeated Cape Fear 25-10 and 25-16 with Emma Furstein and Tyra Marsh having strong service games for the Falcons. The jayvee team is now 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

The Falcons face Lee Christian in a home match today, with the jayvees starting at 4 p.m. and the varsity following at 5 p.m.
