Takes the Cake

I read Jim Dodson’s Sunday essay “Play Around with Summer Games” (Aug. 12) and all I can say is, “Shame on you, Jim Dodson!” It takes the cake for being downright tacky.

For me, the London Summer Olympics provided something for everyone in competitive sports and the opportunity for the best to be rewarded, not to mention the pageantry and the historical documentary on London and World War II.

Just as important was the opportunity for the nations that participated to share their countries’ diversity and culture. If only there could be this kind of unity among all nations.
