Pinehurst Resort has named Jay Biggs senior vice president of golf and club operations.
Biggs comes to Pinehurst most recently from The Country Club of the South in Atlanta, where he was general manager responsible for all aspects of the exclusive 800-member club, a news release said. Prior to that, he was the director of operations and membership at Firestone Country Club from 2004-2010, overseeing three golf courses and more than 1,000 members.
“Jay has a wealth of experience in golf operations, membership development and club management, and we’re excited about the new ideas and energy he brings to Pinehurst,” said Pinehurst President Donald Padgett II.
Biggs, a class A PGA professional, is a native of Indiana and attended Indiana University. He has served as a director of golf at several clubs, including Glen Oaks Country Club, Nicklaus Golf Club at Lions Gate, Dominion Valley Country Club and Belmont Country Club.
“Pinehurst is the pinnacle of golf,” Biggs said. “It has such an amazing history and tradition of great golf and championships. And with back-to-back U.S. Opens coming in 2014 and a number of exciting new membership initiatives, this is an exciting time to be here.”
Biggs assumes responsibility for all golf and country club operations, membership, the Pinehurst Golf Academy, golf professional staff and club management.
