A Carthage man who ran out of a Moore County courtroom and led law enforcement officers on a high-speed chase has been arrested.

Brandon Daniel Lane, 25, of 10939 N.C. 24-27, was arrested Friday and charged with felony flee to elude, reckless driving to endanger, fail to heed blue light and siren, driving left of center, resisting arrest, driving while license revoked, three counts of felony identity theft and three counts financial card theft, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

Lane was in District Court Thursday and was told by a deputy to take a seat while court officials determined if charges were pending against him. He ran from the courtroom and got into his vehicle, leading officers on a high-speed chase, the release said. It ended when Lane drove into a wooded area off N.C. 24-27 west and ran away.

Lane was jailed on a $7,500 secured bond, with a first court appearance scheduled for Sept. 9 in District Court in Carthage.
