It was too much Rasheed Rushing for North Moore in tonight's season-opening high school football contest in Monroe.

Union Academy rode Rushing's five touchdowns to a 55-0 win in the nonconference opener for both teams.

The Cardinals took a 2-0 lead early in the first after a bad snap on a Mustang punt attempt sailed out of the end zone for a safety.

Rushing then went to work scoring three times in a span of 2:09, starting by returning the ensuing kickoff after the safety for a 60-yard touchdown. He tacked on a 30-yard interception return for a score and a 12-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. In the second quarter, he added two more scores on runs of 20 and 50 yards as Union took a 35-0 halftime lead.

He finished the evening with 102 yards on eight carries.

Hmmmm ... the AP has UA 58 NM 0. Still, it was a beatdown nonetheless.
