Two Arrested in Drug Operation, Marijuana Plants Seized

Moore County Sheriff's officials have arrested two people, including a northern Moore County resident, in connection with a marijuana-growing operation.
Graham Scott Powers, 42, who lives in the Stanly County town of Norwood, and Brenda Kay Powers, 41, of 383 Old Post Office Road in Robbins, face several drug charges.
Moore Sheriff Lane Carter reports that deputies from the department's Narcotics Unit, SBI and Highway Patrol Aviation Unit on Aug. 8 seized 19 marijuana plants from land at 383 Old Post Office Road in the Spies community of Moore County. The plants were approximately 10 to 12-feet tall and weighed 51 pounds.
Officers obtained a search warrant for the home at the address and seized approximately 11 grams of marijuana, digital scales and other items of drug paraphernalia. The estimated street value of all marijuana seized is $225,000.
Graham Scott Powers was arrested on Aug. 10 and is charged with two counts of felony trafficking in marijuana, felony conspiracy to traffic in marijuana, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, and felony manufacture marijuana. He received a $5,000.00 secured bond and was placed in the Moore County Detention Center.
Brenda Kay Powers was arrested on Aug. 9 and is charged with two counts of felony trafficking in marijuana, and felony conspiracy to traffic in marijuana, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, felony manufacture marijuana, felony maintaining a dwelling to keep controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. She received a $75,000.00 unsecured bond and was released.
