Where Credit Is Due

This is in regard to the article written by Katherine Smith titled “West End’s Barnes Follows His Own Musical Path” ( July 29).

I want to say how appreciative I am of the wonderful story she wrote about me and my music; however, I do want to clarify a few minor factual errors, to give credit where credit is due.

Contrary to what the article states, I did not write any lyrics to “Houston.”

I was the original guitarist and performer on the song, but Justin Harris of McKenzies Mill wrote the lyrics.

Also, I moved to Nashville with Justin and Ryan Harris (not Jeff) in 2005 (not 2002).

I sincerely appreciate the article and Miss Smith’s wonderful storyline.

I also want to apologize to the organizers and the fans of Farmers Day in Robbins for having to cancel Saturday’s performance due to a severe, and abrupt, case of strep throat the day of the show. Thank you and God bless.
