Turning Point Worship Center, at 16433 U.S. 15-501 South, recently held "Adventures on Promise Island," where kids discovered the promises of God.

Sunday was a wonderful day at Mount Pleasant Christian Church. Worship was wonderful. Suzy Swink's sisters were among the visitors.

This coming Sunday, the church will celebrate Irene Hair's 90th birthday with a covered-dish meal in the fellowship hall after the worship service. Irene is Mount Pleasant's most senior member. The congregation is invited to share in this wonderful meal and celebration.

Work is continuing around the church to repair damages from the July 4 storm. The church steeple was damaged by the high winds. It probably will have to be removed and taken to Clinton for repairs.

On Aug. 19 at 6 p.m., the church will welcome Right Turn, the gospel singing group that has been to the church before. The community is invited to share this special evening of music.

Plans are in the works for a wonderful day of worship and celebration Sept. 9. This is the day that the deacons have set aside as Youth Sunday, Grandparents Recognition Day and Patriots Day.

Many members have ordered the new church shirts that have "Blessed is the nation, whose God is the Lord" on the front and the church name on the back. The shirts are worn to honor and remember those lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and to proclaim that Mount Pleasant is a church that supports being one nation under God.

Mount Pleasant holds worship services at 11 a.m. each Sunday. Dr. Greg Poplin is the pastor. Everyone in the community is invited to attend services.

After taking a summer break, the Thursday evening Bible study will begin at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9 in the church parlor.

Anyone who enjoys quilting is invited to help with the last quilt for this year's harvest sale. The quilters will be working Mondays through Wednesdays, beginning at 9 a.m. in the fellowship hall. Come join the group and enjoy the fellowship.
