The Union Pines boys’ tennis team knocked off Northwood 9-0 Tuesday, improving its record to 16-0 in the process.
Having already clinched the Cape Fear Valley Conference regular-season championship with an 10-0 record, the Vikings proved that going out of conference to play the Chargers at Northwood provided the same results — a win.
John Dangerfield, the team’s No. 1 singles player who teams with Jordan Allen at No. 1 doubles, became the 33rd Viking to win 100 career matches at the school.
By virtue of winning the conference title, the Vikings will enter the dual team state 3-A playoffs as the conference’s No. 1 seed.
The individual conference tournament starts next Wednesday in Sanford.
