Authorities Seek Suspect in Convenience Store Armed Robbery
Moore County Sheriff’s investigators are searching for a suspect who robbed a local convenience store and assaulted the clerk over the weekend.
A black male wearing a blue and white bandanna over his face entered the Mac’s Food Store at 735 Sand Pit Road about 9 p.m. Saturday, pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded he open the safe, according to the incident report from the Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect then came behind the counter and demanded again that the clerk open the safe. When the clerk told the suspect he couldn’t open the safe, the man fired a shot that struck cabinets and the store’s computer, according to the report.
The suspect then ordered the clerk to open the register, striking him in the left side of the head with the handgun.
The clerk, who suffered a minor cut behind his left ear, opened the register and gave the suspect the money.
The suspect, who is described in the report as 6-feet tall and 200 pounds, left the store and then the clerk locked the store and pressed the alarm.
Surveillance video shows a black male wearing a red ball cap, possibly with the logo of the Anaheim Angels baseball team. He had a blue and white bandanna across his face and gloves on his hands. He was wearing a white T-shirt, dark, long shorts and black and white tennis shoes.
Video shows he came from across Roseland Road on the south side of the store. He left in the same direction.
