Carthage Man Dies in One-Vehicle Wreck

A Carthage man died in a one-vehicle wreck this morning on Beulah Church Road, 11 miles north of Pinehurst.

Ciro Vilar Rodriguez, 36, of the 3800 block of Old Carthage Road, died when the 1991 Toyota pickup truck he was driving left the road, flipped over and struck a tree, according an incident report filed with the state highway patrol.

Rodriguez, who was wearing his seatbelt, was reportedly driving 80 in a 55 mph zone.

He lost control of his vehicle at 1:15 a.m. today and drove the vehicle off the right side of the Beulah Church Road, according to reports. He steered the vehicle back across the road before it eventually struck a tree.

Notice the reference to seatbelt use? The article about the guy rear-ending a car on 211 a couple weeks back neglected this fact that is in EVERY vehicle accident news story.

So this is an asleep at the wheel fatality or a drunk driver one. Sorry to his family.

At 80 miles an hour you don't drive your vehicle back across the road,let's be honest here at those speeds your vehicle is in control and takes you wherever it wants to go,why would anyone report such a stupid comment that would indicate this driver had any control.
