Try It, You'll Like It

Thanks to Rodney Childress for his recent letter (March 28) regarding the plumbing class at Sandhills Community College.

I attended this class some months ago. There were only five people in our class. Rodney, a journeyman plumber, was our teacher, and he’s a good one.

Of the five of us, there were four men and one woman. Three of the men were retirees, two were seniors, and one was unemployed, hoping to pick up some skills. The woman owned some rental properties.

Oddly, there were no young people who might have begun to learn a well-paying trade. I’d like to urge that group to consider this class. It’s a great learning opportunity and an eye-opener to what you can do and what can be saved. Try it, you’ll be surprised at what you can learn!

The first lesson in the class was how to properly wear your pants while working.
