The interior design firm Village Design Group will mark its 30th year in business this month.

Headed up by designer and owner Vicki Stone, the firm has eight professional interior designers from varied geographic locations and backgrounds who provide services to the local, regional and even national markets.

Originally founded by Pam Hill as Pinehurst Interiors, the business has grown from a one-person shop in the historic Theatre Building to the largest design showroom east of Charlotte and south of Washington, D.C., a news release said.

Village Design Group’s showroom is on U.S. 15-501 (next to Chili’s Bar & Grill) and has 12,000 square feet of space, housing a huge selection of fabrics, carpets, wall coverings, floor coverings, window treatments, lighting, furniture, accessories and the Meadow Creek Tile showroom.

The most recent addition to the space has been to include the Kitchen & Bath Galleries showroom, which will feature several cabinet displays and a working kitchen staffed by two highly experienced and creative cabinet designers.

In addition to providing residential interior design services, Village Design Group provides a variety of other services, including construction oversight, which assists clients in building a new home or renovating an existing one, space planning, staging services and event decorating as well as commercial design services.

Some of the local commercial projects include the Forest Creek fitness center, the renovation of the historic Overlook Building for St. Joseph of the Pines, the Belle Meade Clubhouse, Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club guest rooms and the remodeling of the rental units included on the Pinehurst Resort rental program. Other projects include local restaurants, banks, offices and medical facilities.

“One thing consumers do not realize about using an interior designer is that the designers do not just pick out paint colors or wallpaper or furniture; they are trained to optimize the utilization of a space and to create an aesthetically appealing look on any budget,” Stone said. “Turning less into more is what we do best. We encourage anyone to stop in and browse through the resources at the designer center. The selection of fabrics alone is tremendous. We have numerous lamps, an accessory boutique, bedding, pillows and other decorative items in the showroom.”

To celebrate the 30th anniversary, Village Design Group will soon host a spring fling event to showcase new displays and renovations in the Interior Design Center.
