Our Security Is at Stake

I saw it in the president’s eyes (Sept. 8) as he faced a joint session of Congress. Excruciating partisanship was staring back at him.

All his political polish, his months of posturing and pontificating on the stump around America since the last election hasn’t convinced a Congress so wedded to the right at present to take his agenda seriously.

Eleven times he pleaded this body to pass his jobs bill now. He pleaded to a Congress, now so dysfunctional, so arrogant, so unpopular in the polls as well as with the public at large, that it is now an impenetrable barrier to any coherent policy which preserves and protects our national interests.

The president’s math doesn’t add up. Congress’s selfish outcomes are plainly seen in the camera lenses and network interviews. This body presents an anemic portrait of leadership. Our national economic security and quality of life are at stake now.

Watching this on TV was sad indeed.

Norm - with your powers for optical observation, you should let FoxNews know of this talent. They could certainly use a Pupil Prognosticator.

That 'jobs bill' that Obama has been pleading and pandering to "pass right now" is in the hands of Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader. . It has not even been brought up for a vote from the Democratic side as it does not have the democratic support to even pass the senate. The bill is currently a political football in a feeble attempt of passing blame onto the Republicans ...Mike

In fact, as of yesterday anyway, no one in either the House or the Senate had signed on as a co-sponsor of the bill. Pure political theatre from the start, designed to give the President footage for the coming campaign commercials. After all that nonsense about him wanting to go before Congress to make that speech, he had nothing to submit and no one to back it.

It's amazing to me that he was basically allowed to film a commercial before Congress.

The "Tax and Spend" instinct is still alive and kicking with Obama, but Harry Reid is getting some feedback from his democrats that the public isn't buying it anymore.

Notice that the desire of a group of congressmen to hold spending down, even to just the current debt limit, is classed as some sort of treason. As the economy has gone downhill, plenty of us have been limited to "present levels of spending."

Excessive spending is obviously what has caused the high unemployment rates. Anyone should be able to see that but eliminating spending, we will have full employment and a robust economy. The less we spend, the more jobs that are created...why can't the left see that? Those of us who obtain our spending money from stocks held in companies that generate their profits from foreign markets must maintain our "present levels of spending" in these tough times but the rest of you must cut back or stop spending altogether, after all, we can't support our lifestyle and yours as well. Well, I can't continue this conversation. I'm due at the club for another fund raiser.

President Obama must think Americans are "stuck on Stupid". We got it the first time, or should say, didn't get it, JOBS. Diane

So now that the Teabagger House is here to save us, where are the jobs? And what's the plan, other than to cut taxes, which Dubbya did and yet didn't serve to prevent the worst recession in history?

Everything the wingnuts are calling for was a policy in the Bush Administration and the economy STILL tanked. That's not "blaming Bush", that's pointing out that you're asking us to go back to his legacy of failure.

"All his political polish, his months of posturing and pontificating"

You can polish a xxxx all you want, its still smells bad. Even the Dems in congress can smell it.

Read and Compare the points in the jobs bill with the policies the Republicans have proposed in the past. You will notice at least 75% of the bill are points that the Republicans came up with. Hence, why a good portion of Democrats hate it. The only thing unacceptable in the bill is that Obama presented it. The Republicans have focused on hating Obama so much, that they have lost site of the forest for the trees.

Last time I checked, the GDP under Bush was almost twice what it is under Obama's watch. But then, I thought we were talking about yet, another proposed jobs creating Obama Stimulus Plan by the almost 3 year old Obama White House. Maybe I didn't hear Joe Biden say last week, that this Administration was now assuming responsibility for what is going on. I wonder when Harry Reid is going to get around to bringing the bills the House has sent to the Senate up for debate. Hey how about all those new EPA regulations on business this year? When you see your electric and gas bills go North this winter, and more jobs go South, thank President Obama and Democrat Party. Diane
