Flyers Win Three in a Row in Volleyball

The Sandhills Community College volleyball team won three games this week, leading up to a big conference showdown with Davidson Community College at home Saturday.

The Flyers beat Vance Granville Community College 25-25, 25-22 and 25-7 at home Wednesday night. That came on top of a doubleheader sweep of Rockingham Community College on Tuesday.

In the win over Vance, the Flyers were led by Jessica Marion with 10 kills and nine digs, while Janie Bounds had seven kills. Michelle Brown had 12 assists and Paige Horne 14 for the Flyers. Chelcey Parker collected 10 digs and three aces in the winning effort.

In the doubleheader against Rockingham, the Flyers won the first match 25-4, 25-9 and 25-7. The second match went 25-10, 25-7 and 25-18 in favor of the Flyers.

In the first match, the Flyers got seven kills, six digs and four aces from Parker, while Bounds chipped in with seven kills and three blocks. Brown added 16 assists and McKenzie White had four aces.

In the second match, Marion had 13 kills, one block and three aces, while Brown contributed 15 assists. Parker had seven digs in helping the Flyers win.

Before facing Davidson at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sandhills is scheduled to play at Johnson Community College tonight at 7 p.m.
