The Union Pines Viking volleyball team dropped a four-set match to Overhills, in a clash atop the 3-A Cape Fear Valley Conference (CFVC) standings, Tuesday in Spring Lake.
With the 21-25, 15-25, 25-16 and 24-26 loss, Union Pines fell to 15-2 on the season and out of a tie for the top spot in the league at 6-2 in CFVC play.
Overhills (12-2, 7-1 CFVC) remained tied for first in the league standings with the Western Harnett Eagles. The two teams are set to square off Thursday in a tilt for sole possession of the top spot in the conference.
The Vikings, who topped Western Harnett in a five-set match earlier this season at Union Pines, return to CFVC action Thursday in a home match against Gray's Creek on the floor of Bob Ward Gymnasium at 6 p.m in Cameron.
