Trinity Music Announce Schedule

Trinity Music Academy has announced its fall membership drive and concert schedule for the 2011-12 season of great music in the beautiful setting of Trinity United Methodist Church, N. Russell Street, Troy.

The first concert, Nate Leyland and Friends, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 1.

Leyland serves as first chair and principal cellist of the Des Moines Symphony, Raleigh Symphony, Fayetteville Symphony and Tar River Symphony orchestras. He will be accompanied by a string ensemble for an evening of favorites from the classical repertoire as well as compositions from TMA composer Sophia Pavlenko Chandley.

The Christmas concert, featuring an evening with TMA executive director Paul Chandley and his wife, Sophia, will be held at 8 p.m., Dec. 3, celebrating the birth of the Savior with classical Christmas favorites from Bach to Tchaikovsky.

On Feb. 21, TMA presents "A Night of Opera and Broadway." Many of the performers who have become favorites of TMA audiences are expected to return this season, including Metropolitan Opera singer John Fowler.

The annual member dinner concert is set for April 21 with the Raleigh Chamber Orchestra.

Two bonus concerts are on the schedule this season, including a Sunday afternoon concert May 20, with the Moore County Philharmonic Orchestra, and the final event to be announced later in the season, TMA's own orchestra now 48 members strong.

Memberships are now available to support the concert season as well as TMA's student program. Four membership levels are available as well as a named scholarship program to assist students needing financial aid.
