In a match of long service runs, Pinecrests’ Carina Houseman served out the final 14 points of a 25-6 first-game win over Richmond Senior Tuesday evening at James Moore Gym.

The Raiders then took a 10-0 lead in the second game, but the Patriots rallied to complete a 25-6, 25-23 and 25-19 sweep. The home team improved to 3-1 in the Southeastern Conference and 12-3 overall.

Coach Barbara Foxx’s squad is scheduled to travel to Union Pines tonight to try to turn the tables on a Viking team that defeated them in four games a week ago. The Patriots are on the road again on Thursday in a league match against Hoke County.

The Patriots caught up at 17-17 in the second game on an a service ace by Callie Boone. Boone put them ahead for good at 24-23 with a kill from the back row. The final point came on a tip into space by Felicia Painter. The Pats led most of the way in the decisive third game.

Painter had seven kills and Amber Goodwin had six for the Patriots. The assist leaders were Megan Thomas and Boone with eight and seven, respectively.
