Former professional wrestler Matt Hardy is facing drug charges in Moore County.
Moore County sheriff's deputies arrested Hardy on multiple drug charges after searching his residence on Boys Camp Road in Cameron and seizing drugs, including anabolic steroids, according to a Tuesday release from the Sheriff's Office.
This is the third time in the past month that Hardy has been in trouble with the law.
On Monday, Hardy, 36, posted a video online saying that the last two months have "definitely been the worst months of my career" and that he plans to seek treatment.
"I have made the voluntary decision to go to rehab and get myself together," he says in the video.
Hardy was charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver schedule III controlled substance (anabolic steroids), possession of schedule I controlled substance (ecstasy), maintain a place to keep controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Deputies seized 20 vials of anabolic steroids, one dosage unit of ecstasy, drug paraphernalia and $1,900 cash when they searched Hardy's home Sept. 14, according to the release.
Hardy was released on a written note to appear in court. His first court appearance is set for Sept. 29.
He said he has serious back and pelvic and spinal injuries from pushing his body too far in his wrestling career.
"Due to all these facts, I medicated myself so I could get through the days," he said in the video, "and it became too much of a problem."
Hardy went on to say that after he finishes the three-month drug rehab, he wants to open a wrestling school "to help teach others to be smarter wrestlers ... live smarter lifestyles."
On Sept. 12, police arrested Hardy outside RDU International Airport and charged him with driving under the influence after another driver reported that his 2011 Corvette was "all over the road," nearly hitting two other automobiles, according to the police report.
Hardy was unable to complete a field sobriety test, and officers described his speech as "very slow and slurred." He submitted to a portable Breathalyzer test twice, and both times the result was 0.00, according to the report, apparently indicating that any impairment was caused by something other than alcohol.
Hardy signed a written promise to appear at the Wake County courthouse in Raleigh on Nov. 30.
On Aug. 20, the State Highway Patrol charged Hardy with driving while impaired after his 2009 Chevy Corvette ran off the road and struck a tree near Vass.
Following that incident, Hardy posted a "goodbye" video online that prompted fans to express concern about his well-being. The video was removed the next day, and Hardy told TMZ.com that the video was not a suicide note and that he felt it was time for a change.
Hardy and his younger brother, Jeff, were one of the more popular tag teams in pro wrestling. Known as the Hardy Boyz, they were six-time World Wrestling Entertainment World Tag Team Champions.
Earlier this month, Jeff Hardy was sentenced to serve 10 days in jail, 30 days of probation and a $100,000 fine in a plea bargain that stemmed from his 2009 arrest on drug charges.

A good decision to get professional help. Time to move forward in life. Hopefully your new career choice will be successful and built in NC.

Matt & Jeff both gave too much of their bodies early on. Like many professional wrestlers, drug avuse becomes the only way to block the pain and stay in the industry. I hope nothing but the best for the both of them. I've known them personally for many years, including those early years before the stardom, glitz and glamor and they were then and are now very good people. Head up fellas...get the help you need and press on.

Anabolic steroids are not used to "block the pain and stay in the industry". Both of the brothers left wrestling, one left last year, Matt left in August of this year. The sad fact is that many folks that join the entertainment industry fall into drugs as a matter of peer pressure. I hope that the two of them get help, having been up so high, now they need to come back down and get cleaned up. It will be a hard thing, but it is achievable with the help of true friends and family that cares.

I know a lot of young boys look up to them, and I hope they both get in rehab and get right. This would be a testimony that failing does not mean the end of the road, but getting up and getting right is what its all about. None of us are perfect and all of us have failed at some time. Good luck guys, get clean..

I hope they both see this post and the positive comments. The other write up got so nasty and negative. I have never met them, but use to have a mutual friend that always talked about them to me. I hope Jeff gets into rehab too.

Jeff has been doing just fine for over 2 years. Before judging others, consider the pain that Matt may be experiencing. Until you have walked a mile in someone's shoes or know what goes on with someone's life, you really don't know the whole truth.

Jeff is doing amazing now. Both of these boys are good people. Rehab needs a lot more people in this town to come in addition to Matt. I don't judge people. You guys shouldn't either.

Who judged? Not me. I have said nothing but positive and even stopped the crap on the other write up.I have never used drugs so i can't walk that mile! I have and will continue for the rest of my life live in pain! I never said i knew the whole truth or made a hurtful comment so why are you both acting like i have said something wrong?

ccg, Jeff is doing just fine but you said he should get in rehab too.
carolinacountrygirl 8 months, 1 week ago
yes i did. because the last i've heard he went to trial. I saw no mention of him getting any help in the article. you only know what you read unless you've been informed by someone who knows more than you do. i am glad he is doing fine and now he can help his brother thru all this mess. Tell him i said to stay positive and don't let the comments get to him. Am i forgiven??

No problem. Forgiven, yes. It took over 2 years to get to trial and the part about doing well never made it into the media.

What gives the State the right to search his home? Suspicion of DUI? One ecstasy pill? Big deal, flush it. They confiscated $1900 from a multimillionaire and charged him with dealing steroids??? Seriously?
I hope he decides to change his life, for his sake and ours, but I hope we don't start raiding everyone's house because they are high or get a DUI charge.

Probable cause - look it up.

Calm down... Your house does not get searched because of a DUI. Matt's girlfriend, while talking to police, gave them information which lead to the probable cause needed to search the house.
The above information comes from another news website.

It just goes to show you, NEVER talk to the police without a warrant and a lawyer. If you want to get someone you love help, DO NOT involve law enforcement. Their goal is not to help you, but only to help themselves. They will charge you with trafficking and maintaining a dwelling no matter how obvious it is that you are not a drug dealer. They will also confiscate any cash, and may confiscate your house since you were using it in the crime.

Sound advice. Her is a short video as to why: http://wimp.com/coprule/

I hope, for society's sake, that you don't have any children - if you do, then I hope you are not teaching them the nonsense that you are spewing on this board. It is people like you who incorrectly teach kids that the police are the boogieman!
If you do have children, why don't you try teaching them the facts such as:
Drugs are ILLEGAL If you break the law, you SHOULD BE punished If you have COPIUS amounts of narcotics, they are probably not for personal use
