Y’all are lot better at this picking game then me.
In fact there were nine people who went 14-2, while there was a plethora of people dancing around with 13-3 and 12-4 marks. Then there was me, the proud owner of an 11-5 mark.
Not a lot of space for this stuff this week, so let’s just cut to the chase: The nine people with 14-2 records were Paul Brodict, of Southern Pines; Joan Mangrum, of Pinebluff; Brian Norris, of Aberdeen; George Erickson, of Foxfire; Zane Grey, of Biscoe; Mike Branscome, of Southern Pines; Amy Britt, of Carthage; Cecil Brewer, of Pinebluff; and Michael Brown, of Aberdeen.
So to the tiebreaker we shall go. The tiebreaker game was Green Bay at Carolina, a game that ended with the Packers winning 30-23. Now, if my math skills are correct, that would be a total of 53 points.
And the winner of the $50 first-place check is George Erickson, who predicted that there would be a total of 54 points scored in that contest. Getting the second-place money of $30 is Amy Britt, while third place, and the $20 check that goes with that, is Michael Brown.
Next week, when there is more room, the standings in the overall season-long contest will be printed.
Oh, yeah, I’ve got to do my picks. The first week I used a lucky coin. Last week I used my dog, Bunny, to make my picks. This week I’m turning things over to my friend, Lucky Lou. Hopefully, he lives up to his name.
So I’m going with New Orleans, Philadelphia, Carolina, New England, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Tennessee, Detroit, Baltimore, N.Y. Jets, San Diego, Arizona, Atlanta, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Alabama.
