After a little prodding from coach Michael Shamberger at halftime, the North Moore boys’ soccer team scored five second-half goals Wednesday on the way to a 7-1 Yadkin Valley Conference win over visiting South Davidson.
Pedro Lopez led the way for the Mustangs with four goals, as the North Moore improved to 3-1 in the conference and 4-4 overall.
Although the Mustangs led 2-0 at halftime, Shamberger said that he was not happy with his team’s play, mainly because his tema had a big advantage in time of possession. He noted that in the second half, the team did a better job of implementing the game plan, resulting in the five goals.
In addition to Lopez’s four goals, Luis Solache had two goals and two assists, while Rolando Catalan provided one goal and one assist to the Mustangs’ effort. Edgar Catalan, Gerbacio Cabrera and Alejandro Mendoza had one assist each for North Moore. Juan Garcia handled the goalkeeper chores, recording two saves.
North Moore doesn’t return to action until next Wednesday when it plays at conference rival East Montgomery.
