The Union Pines girls' golf team claimed its first Cape Fear Valley Conference win of the season, Monday, at Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford

Viking freshman Kayla Jackson earned medalist honors with a round of 84.

Union Pines tallied a winning total of 270 to claim the league victory in a match shortened to 16 holes due to darkness.

Southern Lee placed second with a score of 294, followed by Western Harnett at 287. Overhills placed fourth at the event with a score of 314.

Next week, the Vikings travel to Anderson Creek for a CFVC match hosted by Overhills on Monday, with a start time of 2 p.m.
