The Pinecrest boys’ and girls’ cross country teams each finished first in Tuesday’s first Southeastern Conference tri-meet of the season at the Southern Pines Elks Club course.

The first seven finishers for the Patriot boys in the 5K race that included Scotland County and Purnell Swett were 1. Graham Hawes (18:58), 2. Will Pearson (18:59), 3. Jacob Troutman (19:46), 4. John Hasty (19:53), 5. Javier Bustos (19:56), 6. Matt Harmody and 8. Ben Kaiser (20:16).

The Pinecrest girls took the first seven places led by Jennie Cunningham, Jaleigh Jensen (23:21), Katie Hayes (23:22), Jenna Woronoff (23:26) and Sarah Klug (24:17), Kara Zoellner (24:23) and Hayden Rudd (24:56).

The team scores based on the standing of the first five runners to finish for each team were: Boys - Pinecrest 15, Scotland 56 and Purnell Swett 60; Girls – Pinecrest 15, Purnell Swett 56 and Scotland 66.
