O'Neal Defeats Lee Christian in Volleyball

O’Neal volleyball team defeated Lee Christian in five games Tuesday at Lee Christian.
The scores of the game were 25-16, 25-12, 23-25, 22-25 and 15-10, with the visiting Falcons using strong serves and passes to take the fifth-game clincher.
The Falcons had a total of 26 kills, with Jackie Chamberlain and Katelyn Hunt providing six kills each. Taylor Shelton followed with five kills and three blocks. Maeve Bartiss and Katie Dyer each chipped in four additional kills. Claire Russell had six service aces and Katelyn Hunt followed with four service aces. The team’s setter, Scottie McGowan, had 23 assists.
“The girls played well together,” said Falcon coach Kendall Harper. “The girls full potential is shown when they communicate and play as a team. That concept (communication) will be very important in the next couple of weeks because we start back into conference play.”
O’Neal (7-5 overall, 1-1 conference) has almost two weeks off before entertaining Harrells Academy at home on Sept. 27.
In junior varsity action, O’Neal lost to Lee Christian in two games, by scores of 25-15 and 25-22.
Leaders for the Falcons were Tessa Candiotti with three kills and a service ace. Aubrey Thompson and Emma Moore each added two service aces. Mary Dozier had two kills and Emily Summers and Andie Schaible added one kill each.
The Falcon jayvees are now 6-6 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
