Sponsors are the Cooperative Extension Service, Keep Moore County Beautiful, the N.C. Department of Agriculture, Sustainable Sandhills, Moore County and the municipalities of Aberdeen, Pinehurst, Southern Pines and Whispering Pines.
Examples of household hazardous waste are paint and paint thinners, furniture strippers and finishing products, solvents and degreasers, wood preservatives, polishes, aerosols, fluorescent light tubes, compact fluorescent bulbs, NiCd batteries, alkaline batteries, lithium batteries, propane cylinders, swimming pool chemicals, used motor oil, antifreeze, gasoline, hydraulic, transmission and brake fluids.
Other waste materials to be collected include pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and insecticides. For identification purposes, these items must be in the original containers.
In addition to household hazardous waste collection, a paper shredding service will be available. This service is not intended for newspapers or magazines.
The recycling of electronics is not part of the Nov. 19 project. Moore County has established electronics recycling collection sites at all waste collection facilities across the county.
