The Union Pines girls’ tennis team continued its winning ways Wednesday with a 9-0 victory over visiting Cape Fear Conference foe Western Harnett.
Union Pines is 5-0 in conference play and 7-0 overall.
With two wins against the Eagles, Madi Kramer has become the 39th Union Pines girl with 75 wins. Kramer’s career mark is 76-7.
Union Pines was scheduled to play Jordan-Matthews today.

Inline Hockey Registration
The Pinecrest Parks and Recreation Department is offering an inline hockey league this fall.
The league is open to boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 17, with age determined as of Jan. 1, 2012.
Four divisions are offered: 5-7, 8-10, 11-13, and 14-17. All games and practices will be held at the hockey rink at Rassie Wicker Park. Space is limited and registration will be cut off if maximums are reached before the deadline.
Mandatory equipment includes a helmet with protective mask, elbow pads, kneepads, shin guards, a mouthpiece, a protective cup/pelvic protector, hockey gloves, a hockey stick and in-line skates. Anyone interested in coaching should indicate so on the registration form.
Registration for the leagues end Sept. 14 at 5 p.m. The cost is $20 for residents and $40 for non-residents.

Punt, Pass, Kick Is Sept. 14
If you want a chance to show off your football skills at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, sign up for this year’s local Punt, Pass & Kick competition.
This free event is sponsored by the Aberdeen, Southern Pines and Pinehurst recreation departments. The event will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m. at the Memorial “C” Field in Southern Pines.
The event is for boys and girls, ages 6–15 years old, by Dec. 31. All local winners will advance to a regional competition for an opportunity to qualify for the Carolina Panthers Team Championship.
Forms can be picked up from the Aberdeen, Southern Pines and Pinehurst recreation departments.
