The Pinecrest volleyball team opened Southeastern Conference play with a 25-8, 25-12 and 25-23 victory at Lumberton Thursday evening.

The Patriots, now 8-1 overall, were led by Felicia Painter with 13 kills and 13 service points. Keyasa Martin served for 18 points and Megan Thomas contributed 13 assists and six service points.

Also for the winners, Amber Goodwin had seven kills, Ashleigh Welton had five kills and five service points, Rae Nunez served for 10 points and Callie Boone was credited with eight assists.

The Patriots travel to Laney on Saturday before meeting defending conference champion Scotland County in Laurinburg for a 6 p.m. match on Tuesday.
