The Pinecrest freshmen scored a touchdown with 1:47 remaining in Thursday’s football game at Richmond and then stopped a last ditch Raider drive at their own eight-yard line to bring home a 12-7 victory.

A 15-yard touchdown pass from Michael Jacobs to tight end Jordan Denny put the Patriots, now 3-0, in front for the first time in the game. They had fallen behind 7-0 after the first series of the game.

On the second play of the Patriots’ first possession, running back Troy Roper carried the ball up the middle and then broke outside on the way to a 55-yard touchdown. The extra point was missed, making it 7-6.

Patriot coach Ronshau Cole praised linebackers Ryan Brooks and Landon Winningham for their efforts in holding the Raiders scoreless for the final three quarters.

Next Thursday the Patriots entertain Hoke County, with the kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m.
