The O’Neal varsity volleyball team defeated Grace Christian in Sanford Tuesday in three games.

The scores of the games in the Falcons nonconference win were 25-19, 25-11 and 25-9.

The Falcon leaders were Claire Russell with 13 service aces and Maeve Bartiss with eight service aces. Teresa Griffin lead the team in kills with four, followed by Collen Tofya, Katja Ehlers, Tory Fedder and Katelyn Hunt with two kills each. Taylor Shelton provided one solid solo block.

O’Neal is now 6-4 overall and 1-1 in the Cape Fear Independent Conference.

In junior varsity action, the Falcons defeated Grace Christian in two games, by scores of 25-19 and 25-13.

Falcon leaders were Teresa Donner with eight service aces in a row, while Mary Dozier had four service aces and three kills. Emily Summers also provided two service aces and three kills.

The jayvees are also 6-4 (1-1 conference).

Both teams are traveling to Raleigh to face St. David’s tonight.
