Josephine Rose Gatti, of Whispering Pines, and Jeffrey Andrew Schafer, of Greece, N.Y., were married at noon on Saturday, July 2, 2011, on the patio at Ironwood Café. The Rev. Carmela E. Gallucci, aunt and godmother of the bride, officiated at the ceremony.
The reception, hosted by the brides’s parents, was held at Ironwood Café in Pinehurst.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. Rudolf and Dr. Christine Gatti, of Whispering Pines, and the granddaughter of Samuel Pirozzolo, of Staten Island, N.Y., the late Marie Pirozzolo and the late Frank and Josephine Gatti. The bride is a graduate of Union Pines High School and of Appalachian State Univeristy, with a bachelor of arts degree in communications and a master’s degree in public administration. She is presently completing her Ph.D. in public affairs at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas, and will be teaching at Texas A&M in Corpus Christi, Texas.
The groom is the son of James and Anne Edwards, of Canadaigua, N.Y., and Irving and Joanne Schafer, of Rochester, N.Y. He is the grandson of Jean Ring, of Rochester, N.Y., the late James Ring and the late John and Yetti Schafer. The groom is a graduate of Greece Arcadia High School in Greece, N.Y., and received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology, with a certification in elementary education, from the State University of New York at Brockport, and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. He is a middle school mathematics teacher.
The bride was escorted by her father, Rudolf Gatti. She wore an ivory Monique Lhullier dress with ruching and an asymmetric neckline. She carried white tulips.
Regina Joy Gatti, of New York City, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a kelly green Grecian-style dress.
Samantha Berggren, of Pinehurst, and Lily Hawk, of Southern Pines, were flower girls.
Keith Schafer, of Las Vegas, brother of the groom, was the best man.
Meghan Hanley Miller and Brandon DiBianca provided the wedding music.
Following a wedding trip to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, and the Great Lakes and Finger Lakes regions, the couple reside on Padre Island, Texas.

The rehearsal dinner was hosted by Anne and Jim Edwards at Valenti’s Italian Restaurant in Vass.
An engagement party was hosted by friends of the couple in Las Vegas.
A sister’s spa and bachelorette weekend was held in Las Vegas.
A bridal shower was hosted by Sara Beth Hudson Atkins, Regina Gatti and Morgan Hawk at the Atkins home in Woodlake.
After their wedding trip the couple was honored by a couples’ shower at the home of Joan and Bill Markis in Spencerport, N.Y.
Irving and Joanne Schafer also held a reception at their home in Rochester, N.Y.
