On the first play of the game by the offense of the Pinecrest junior varsity football team, Joseph Andersen burst through a hole on the right side of the Hoke County line and went 41 yards for a touchdown.

The next time the Patriots had the ball, a 38-yard burst by Josh McCoy on the second play produced another score. The defense continued to get the ball back to the offense and didn’t allow a first down until just 8:20 remained in the game.

The final result was a 39-0 home victory for the Patriots, as they completed their season with a 5-5 overall and 2-3 record in the Southeastern Conference.

A 20-yard punt return by Trevon Wooten set up the first score. Loose ball handling stifled the visitors on their next possession. After the third Buck punt in a row, Patriot quarterback Tristan Helms showed a soft touch on a touchdown pass over the middle to tight end Kahner George from 11 yards out.

The third conversion in a row by Connor Hayes made it 21-0 with 1:54 still remaining in the first quarter.

Early in the second period, the Patriots’ Brandon Stonesifer picked up a Buck fumble and took it about 25 yards for a touchdown. On the first play after the defense held the Bucks on a fourth and two at their own 31, Helms scampered 31 yards for the touchdown that gave the Pats a 33-0 lead at halftime.

Other first-half highlights for the Patriot defense included a sack by Tristan Mullins and a fumble recovery by Zach Fletcher.

Justin Sengkhampong bulled into the end zone from the one to complete the scoring on the first series of the second half. The Bucks made their only three first downs of the game in the fourth period, with two of them coming as a result of Patriot penalties.

In the closing minutes, a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown by the Pats’ Juwanza Harris was called back because of a blocking infraction.

Andersen led the Patriots in the rushing department with 79 yards on five carries and Helms picked up 75 on 10 attempts. Also for an attack that produced almost 300 yards of total offense, Sengkhampong gained 65 on 11 tries and McCoy picked up 50 on three carries.
