St. Peters Deliverance Church of God, where the pastor is Bishop Ricky Smith, invites everyone to its annual Family and Friends Day at 11:30 a.m. this Sunday.
The members of New Zion A.M.E. Zion Church thank everyone who came out Sunday for the appreciation service for the Rev. Charles McKnight. The pastor's son spoke. Sharon Williams and Mamie Gooch, of Jackson Hamlet, provided special music. Pastor McKnight was overjoyed. He thanks everyone for attending.

The quarterly class leader workshop for the Sanford District will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church.
Addor Community Center board members need your support both in person and financially. The board is asking all of the churches in the community to assist by making a monthly allocation. Donations will help restore utilities to the building and begin using it to help revitalize the community.

The youth of Mount Pleasant Church will hold a trunk-or-treat event from 6 to 7 p.m. on Halloween. Families are invited to stop by the church for this night of fellowship and treats.
This event is sponsored by the youth of the church, and all families of the church are encouraged to decorate the trunk of their cars to greet the visiting families with tales and treats. Light refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall for those attending. The community is invited to take part in this special outreach of the church.
The choir continues to work on its Christmas cantata. Anyone who would like to join them for this special ministry is welcome to come at 6:30 on Wednesday evening to practice.
Bible study in the book of Isaiah continues on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
The church continues the ministry of the BackPack Pals to the schoolchildren. So far, the church has donated more than 900 individual servings to the Food Bank for these children's well-being.
Cypress Presbyterian Church encourages the community to participate in the "trunk-or-treat event for children to be held at Vass Baptist Church this Saturday, beginning at 5:30 p.m. with an outside hot dog supper.
This Sunday will be the last Sunday for Cypress' 8:30 a.m. worship service this season. The early service will again be considered as summer approaches next year.

A Community Watch program is being started in the Mount Pleasant area. The first meeting Oct. 13 was well-attended by many residents from our neighborhoods. Many thanks to Detective Eric Galloway, of the Moore County Sheriff's Office, for leading this introductory meeting.
Check the sign at Crains Creek Fire Department for the date of the next meeting and plan to attend. Be a part of keeping your neighborhood safe.
The Crains Creek Fire Department will host its annual Fire Prevention/Halloween Carnival from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Children ages 12 and under (accompanied by an adult) are invited to come and enjoy the fun and prizes.
Also, there will be bingo from 6 to 8 that night for everyone. Games are 50 cents per three-game card.
Mount Pleasant Church will again be one of the collection places for Bikes for Wright. It's not too early to start turning in those bikes so "Santa" can get started on those repairs.

A plate sale fundraiser to help Timothy Mason will be held from 110 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at 270 Richmond St. in Taylortown. Fish, chitterlings and hot dogs along with macaroni and cheese, potato salad, green beans, rolls, cake, tea, sodas and water will be available.
