Two men and two women from Sanford face charges in connection with multiple break ins in Moore County, including one on Sept. 14 in Lobelia.

The Moore County Sheriff’s investigators last week arrested Justin Ray Griffis, 20, of Bed Lane, Melinda Barber Gilmore, 22, of Lanlier Road, Joseph Glenn Vanskiver, 24, of Jacobs Lane, and Jessica Leeann Barber, 22, of Jacobs Lane.

Griffis, Gilmore, and Vanskiver each were charged with one count each of felony breaking or entering, felony larceny and felony possession of stolen goods in connection with the breaking and entering in Lobelia. Vanskiver had outstanding orders for his arrest involving over 25 counts of breaking or entering cases in various counties. He has had been eluding law enforcement since August of 2011 when he failed to appear in the Nash County Superior Court.

Barber was charged with one count of felony accessory after the fact to breaking or entering, larceny, and possession of stolen goods.

On Sept. 14 a suspicious vehicle was reported at a residence in the Lobelia area of Moore County. Sheriff’s investigators arrived to find that the home had been broken into and jewelry and cash stolen.

While speaking with local citizens, investigators learned of a vehicle which had been seen at several residences throughout the area on the date of this incident, including the residence where the breaking and entering occurred.

With the assistance of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Moore County Sheriff’s Investigators were able to identify and locate a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle seen in the Lobelia area on September 14, 2011 as well as suspects associated with that vehicle. The Vehicle was seized and evidence from the Sept. 14, breaking and entering in Lobelia was located inside as well as evidence from multiple breaking and entering cases outside of Moore County.

All four suspects were placed in Moore County detention Center awaiting their first court appearance on Oct. 27 in Moore County District Court.

Vanskiver’s secured bond is $220,000. Griffis’ secured bond is $35,000 with Gilmore’s set at $15,000 and Barber’s is $10,000.

I hope they look into these same suspects for all of the recent larcenies that have taken place in the Tramway area as well. Center Church, Henley Rd, Cool Springs Rd area have been hit hard recently. Maybe they can tie these suspects with those as well so those people can rest easier. Good Job MCSO, LCSO.
