The interviews were conducted after the Vikings finished the regular season with a three-set sweep against Westover Thursday in CFVC action at Bob Ward Gymnasium.

The Vikes (20-2) finished with a record of 10-2 in the league standings, which landed them in a tie with Western Harnett 16-7, 10-2 CFVC) and Overhills (16-3, 10-2 CFVC) or first place.

After a representative from each school drew straws, Union Pines' turned out to be the longest as it now host the semi-final and final rounds of the league tourney.

Western Harnett, which had the next longest straw thus making them the second the second seed, hosts the opening round Monday in Lillington. Meanwhile Overhills is the tourney's third-seeded team.

According to Union Pines athletic director Bobby Purvis, the CFVC tournament will be the deciding factor in playoff seeding -- with whichever team (of the three tied for the regular season league crown) advancing the furthest receiving the No. 1 seed in the 3-A state playoffs.

The Vikings will take the court in the first of two semifinals at 4:30 p.m. in Cameron against the winner of fourth-seeded Gray's Creek (10-8, 6-6 CFVC) and fifth seed Southern Lee (7-10, 4-8 CFVC)

Western Harnett takes on seventh-seeded Westover (0-12 CFVC) in round one Monday, while Overhills plays sixth seed Douglas Byrd (2-10 CFVC). The winners of those two matches then square off in the second semi-final match at 6 p.m Tuesday. in Cameron.
