Operation Medicine Drop returns to Moore County Oct. 24-29.
Darlind Davis, director of Drug Free Moore County, reported on the program at a recent meeting of the county commissioners.
The program to dispose of unused and/or expired medications represents a collaboration between law enforcement agencies, the Moore County Drug Prevention Task Force and Drug Free Moore in partnership with Safe Kids Mid-Carolinas Region and the Drug Enforcement Agency.
Davis asked that the public take time to clean out medicine cabinets and bring unused, unneeded and expired medications to one of several drop-off sites designated during the campaign.
Such drugs left in homes present a health hazard to children and other unauthorized persons, she said. It is also unwise to flush such medications into the sewer system.
