This letter states some facts about the Robbins Village Theater and debunks the misconceptions being dispensed as facts.
The theater, located at 161 Salisbury St., Robbins, is the property of Robbins Village Theater Foundation Inc. The theater is not, and has never been, owned by the town of Robbins.
The Robbins Village Theater Foundation Inc. was incorporated as a nonprofit on July 8, 2010. The employer identification number and 501 C 3 status was granted on Aug. 20, 2010. The purpose of this foundation was to purchase the theater, renovate it and thus establish a Cultural Arts Center in Robbins.
The funds to purchase the building came through a grant from the Rural Center’s N.C. Step Program in the amount of $75,000. The remainder of the purchase price was a private donation of property to the town, earmarked for the theater. A deed was executed on Oct. 18, 2010, granting the Robbins Village Theater Foundation, a nonprofit corporation, sole ownership.
The board of directors of the foundation are Teresa Thomas, president; Theron Bell, vice-president; Jean O. McSwain, secretary; Laura B. Brady, treasurer; Summer Mack, publicity; John Chappell; George Hayfield; Clarkie Hussey; Tiffanie Garner; Jimmie Garner; and William McDuffie. These members donate their efforts to this project, which will benefit the Robbins area.
The renovations, maintenance and administration of the theater will be funded through grants and tax-deductible contributions to the Robbins Village Theater Foundation Inc., P.O. Box 843, Robbins, NC 27325.
We would appreciate your support in completing this project.
