Village Design Group will be hosting a "Pink Party" on Thursday, Oct. 13, from 4 to 6 pm.

The party will provide information from local groups and charities that provide services for breast cancer patients and general awareness or prevention of the disease.

"We want to let people know that there is help, hope and support, and also to let women know where to go and what to do when diagnosed," said Allison Chatham, showroom manager. "Most everyone knows someone that has encountered breast cancer, and we wanted to help raise awareness for research and treatment opportunities in Moore County. This will be a fun event that will include refreshments, raffles, door prizes and an opportunity to meet and support local breast cancer organizations. Wear something pink and receive a pink carnation."

"October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month," said Vicki Stone, owner of Village Design Group. "We want to do everything we can to raise awareness about the importance of joining the fight against breast cancer. We invite the public to support our effort to raise awareness about breast cancer and to help find a cure for this deadly disease.

"During the month of October, the interior design center will feature a 'Wall of Honor,' where guests can display a card to honor the name of a friend or family member that has been affected by breast cancer. We invite everyone to stop in at any time and add a name to our 'Fight Like a Girl' display."

The free event is open to the public and includes refreshments, prizes, guest speakers, socialization and general information. Guest speakers and presenters include Rachel Yates, with Hope Cottage, Margaret Goodfellow, with Reach to Recovery (American Cancer Society) and Debbie McGahey, with FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital Foundation's Cancer CARE Fund, and other local health care providers.

Representatives from Pampered Chef, Kitchen and Bath Galleries, Meadow Creek Tile and interior designers from Village Design Group will also be in attendance.

All donations collected will be given to the Cancer CARE Fund at Moore Regional Hospital.

The event takes place at 10700 U.S. 15-501 (next to Chili's).
