North Moore Boys Drop Thriller

Senior Shakorya Brower and junior Jalisa Davis led North Moore to a season-opening 62-43 victory over East Montgomery Tuesday, in Robbins.

Brower finished with 18 points, 14 rebounds, seven steals, five assists and three blocks in the tilt versus the Eagles, which was also the Mustangs' 1-A Yadkin Valley Conference basketball opener.

Davis had a huge night as well, scoring 14 points, doling out seven assists and registering five steals. Jessie Sheffield added nine points for North Moore.

In the nightcap, the North Moore boys' fell 42-40 in a ballgame that literally came down to the last second.

Through three quarters of back-and-forth action the Mustangs led 33-31.

After maintaining a slim lead through most of the fourth quarter, the Mustangs fell behind 42-40 with 10.5 second left to play in the contest.

On the final play of the game North Moore's Adam Bullard drove to the basket and was fouled with 0.4 seconds left on the clock.

Needing to sink both shots to force overtime, Bullard missed his first attempt and then tried to intentionally miss the second but was called for a lane violation.

North Moore went seven-for-15 from the charity stripe in the final quarter and did not score a basket from the field.

Both North Moore teams are back in action Friday evening at league foe South Stanly
