Shop or Sell at Junior Flea Market

Southern Pines Recreation and Parks Department still has booths available for its Dec. 10th Junior Flea Market at the Southern Pines Recreation Center.

"Anyone between the ages of 7-16 is welcome to get a booth, but buying items is open to all ages," says Sue Gillis, program coordinator. "Specifically set up with holiday shopping (or selling) in mind, the Junior Flea Market is the best place to buy or sell holiday items."

With the popularity of its springtime Junior Flea Market, and considering the input of sellers and buyers alike who wanted an opportunity to purchase and sell items for the holidays, the Dec. 10 event was planned.

It will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Southern Pines Recreation Center's parking lot (Recreation Center if raining).

Young and old alike are welcome to buy. Young business people can put their bargaining skills to the test as they sell their wares.

Sellers must preregister, as space is limited. Booth fees are $2 for residents and $4 for nonresidents if you bring your own table (up to 6-foot) or $5 for residents and $10 for nonresidents if you want a table provided with your booth.

"This is such a great activity, not only for the sellers, but for children who want to buy their favorite toy, game, book, etc.," says Gillis. "I've seen parents give their children a couple of dollars, and I've seen children bring their allowance and spend the morning comparing prices and trying to decide what to buy. It's a lot of fun for the buyers and can be an inexpensive outing for the family."
