The Brushwood All-Stars won the Open Division of the Tarheel Youth Golf Association Team Championship held at Seven Lakes Country Club in West End last weekend.
The All-Stars, consisting of Victor Wiggins (146), Will Long (147) and Will Blalock (148), all of Gastonia, totaled 289 for the event.
The Spartans, with Luke Haithcock (144), Carter Jenkins (149) and Taylor Coalson (156), were second with a 293 total.
The USGA (Underage Student Golf Addicts) team of John Rea of Pinehurst, Ben Chrystler of Whispering Pines and Corey Whitten of Bennett, posted 343 and finished 13th. Rea shot 172, Chrystler 174, and Whitten 188.
Haithcock, of Burlington, was medalist in the Boys’ Division with 144.
The Daddies’ Little Girls team won the Girls Division with 311, led by Emily Brooks of Chapel Hill with 154.
The Sweet Tees, consisting of Megan Munroe of Raeford (175), Caroline Rea of Pinehurst (176), and Abby Parsons of Pinehurst (183), tied for fourth with 349.
The best two scores of the three team members were used for the team scores.
Sarah Bae of Cary claimed individual honors in the Girls Division with 147.
Interclub: The Carolinas Interclub Championship semifinals and finals are being staged this weekend at Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club.
Bentwinds Country Club of Fuquay-Varina and Devils Ridge Golf Club of Holly Springs met in one semifinals match on Saturday, with Fort Mill (S.C.) Golf Club and River Run Country Club’s No. 2 team of Davidson in the other.
The winners are meeting today for the championship.
Sixteen players from each club compete at four-ball and singles match play with the most cumulative points determining the winner.
Coharie Country Club of Clinton won the title a year ago, but was eliminated in the second round this year by Willow Springs Country Club of Wilson.
This is the 14th playing of the event, which is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
K2 Winners: The team of Matt Ragsdale, John Brennan, Scot Shepard and Laura Kinsman posted a score of 58 to win the second annual Special Operations Warrior Foundation golf tournament held on the Pinehurst No. 6 Course.
The SOWF event, sponsored by K2 Solutions, Inc., located in Southern Pines, provides educational scholarships and family counseling to surviving children of special operations personnel.
According to officials, a record amount was raised to cover the costs of tuition, room and board, books and fees for one student for four years.
K2 is in the process of locating a local golf course to be a long-term partner for future SOWF charity events.

Tin Whistles: The team of Doug Barth, Cackie Jones, Murray Stern and John Field won a card playoff against Jim Peterson, Dave Kilpatrick, Bill Sheehan and Pete Kremer after they had tied at 126 in regulation in the two-best-ball event held at Pine Needles.
Gary Golla, Tom Harmicar, Joe Raguso and Chuck Wilkins won a card playoff for third after tying at 127 with Leo Ganster, John Breslin, John Bennett Jr. and Jack McCarthy.
Don Torgeson and Ken Hepner shot 61 to win the Baird Memorial tournament played on the Pinehurst No. 3 Course.
Roger Johnson and Tony Embrey won a card playoff against Pete Longanbach and Gary Evans for second after they had tied with 64.
Sr. Am Tour: Bob Williams of Franklinton shot 73 to win the Championship Flight of the Senior Amateur Tour event held at Duke University Golf Club. Chuck Taubersmith of Pinehurst was fifth with 78.
