Reed's fascination with World War II began when he first watched the television miniseries "Band of Brothers" with his dad, and he has been an avid collector of memorabilia from all of the war's theaters ever since.

Eventually, his interest turned to local veterans' stories of the war. Reed has interviewed over 20 local WWII veterans and hopes to publish their stories in a book he is working on.
