Gail's Music Studio, located on May Street in Southern Pines, recently held a contest for its students in Candor.

Students competed against one another to see who could memorize the most songs. Blasmichael Delgado, 12, son of Blas and Marisol Delgado, of Candor, was the winner. He was treated to a pizza party at Cici's in Asheboro and given $10 in tokens to use in the video machines.

Delgado has been taking lessons for approximately six months with Gail Summers and transferred to her from the music program in the Candor school system.

"Blasmichael is quite talented and works very hard at his lessons," she says. "There was only one song between him and the second place contestant."

The studio offers musical CDs, DVDs and computer games along with the recent addition of Wii Music and online lessons through Skype.
