Carthage Man Wins Weekly Football Contest

I thought I did really well this week in going 13-3.

Wait, I know you’re saying, you didn’t see my picks last week. Well, that’s true, but I did email them to Reuben Davis of Carthage at 10:51 a.m. Saturday morning when I realized I forgot to include them in last week’s column.

For those who don’t follow sports on thepilot.com, you might not know that Davis keeps us on our toes when it comes to accuracy. He adds comments to our stories and has a blog on the site where he picks high school games. I figured he would be a good one to send my picks. Overall, I am now 84-44.

Anyway, I still didn’t do as well as Jeremy Britt of Carthage, Dale Kellis of Candor and John Robbins of Carthage. They all went 14-2. Britt won the tiebreaker to earn the $50 first-place check, while Kellis ended up second (for $20) and Robbins third ($20).

My picks this week: Kansas City, Atlanta, New Orleans, Buffalo, Houston, Washington, Arizona, Pittsburgh, New England, San Diego, Alabama, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St., Arkansas, Oregon, UNC.

There has been a slight change in the overall standings. Seth Norris still stands on top, but he has been joined by L. Johnson, with both of them now 91-37 for the year.

The standings below include everyone who is doing better than my 84-44 overall mark.

91-37 — Seth Norris, L. Johnson

90-38 — Kurt Osterman, Craig Reaser, Harry Graham

89-39 — Michael Brown, Lee Maurath, Kayla Britt, Holly Hill

88-40 — Jonathan Luck, Amanda Latham, Jeremy Britt, Brad Robbins, Jody Britt

87-41 — Chase Blake, Reuben Davis, Paul Brodict, Glenn Boerner, Patty Camp, Dorothy Brown, Dale Kellis, David Hale, Amy Britt, David Weaver, Bill Norris

86-42 — Taft Gant, Bo McEachern, Bob Hennessey, Kevin Miller, Stan Whitaker, Steve Coney

85-43 — Rich Wingfield, Tony Grausso, Michael Weaver, Andrew and Grace Lyons, John Robbins
