Scotty Makes Final Two on "Idol"

Garner teen Scotty McCreery, grandson of Paquita and Bill McCreery, of Aberdeen, will face off against Lauren Alaina next Tuesday in the season finale of "American Idol."

Haley Reinhart was eliminated from the competition, which garnered a record total of 95,000,000 votes.

Tonight's show featured footage of the three finalists' hometown visits, and if viewers paid close attention, they might have seen his grandparents coming out of the house as Scotty arrived home.

Scotty McCreery: She Believes In Me

The judges' surprised Scotty McCreery on Wednesday evening with their song choice of "She Believes In Me" by Kenny Rogers. The country crooner impressed Randy, Jennifer, and Steven with the way he stretched his voice for the chorus.

The competition moves to the Nokia Theatre, a larger venue, for the final night, which takes place at 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, with the two-hour results show airing Wednesday at 8 p.m.

I'm so happy for him!!! I tried to vote up until 10:45 last night for him but the line was always busy and then I fell asleep. I know I'm only 1 vote, but I would've liked to have given him the support but obviously...SOMEBODY WAS!! All 3 lines were busy so that's a great thing and I hope it carries him to the top! GREAT JOB SCOTTY! I'm pulling for ya.

I'm not an American Idol fan but I must admit I do tune in when fellow North Carolians are showcased. The Pilot articles got me interested in watching Scotty Such a talented young man. He is so humble and an inspiration to all who have watched him. I wish him the best. I am hoping for the big win, but should it go the other way, his future will be set for success. Way to go Scotty!!

Great job Scotty. I honestly thought it would be Haley up there with him. She's different in a good way. She's exciting & versatile. I can see her doing blues, jazz & rock. I think Lauren is very talented & classy, but she reminds me of lots of other female country artists.

Scotty we are so excited for you!! I have liked you and Lauren since Idol started so I am ecstatic that you two are left for the finale!! Not only are u a fine artist you're also a fine young man!! Special Prayers for you as you journey into your endeavor. It's also a plus that I have known your Special Moore County Grandmother. She is a doll!!!

I am so happy for Scotty & Lauren.They are the very two I've pulled for from the very beginning.Good luck next week Scotty.Your voice I love the best but if Lauren wins, at least it won't hurt as bad as if it would if it had been someone else, and I know you will go far.Actually I believe Scotty will take it all.The duet they did was just beautiful!!!

I pulled for James from day one. What a voice and what a story. There several from this year's group that have big things in store. There were a few others that may not make it big, but we'll hear from them again. Fun TV!
