Pageant Scheduled for Tuesday

The North Carolina Senior America Pageant 2011 will be held Tuesday, May 24, at 7 p.m. at Owens Auditorium, Sandhills Community College, 3395 Airport Road, Pinehurst.

State Director Beverly Wetherbie, Ms. Va. Senior America 2005, announced that 12 women will be competing for the title of Ms. N.C. Senior America 2011. Sarah Daffron, Ms. N.C. Senior America 2010, will crown the new Ms. N.C. Senior America 2011.

The Ms. Senior America Pageant is the world's first and foremost pageant to emphasize and give honor to women who have reached the "age of elegance," 60 years or better. This is the fifth statewide pageant for Pinehurst.

Ms. N.C. Senior America 2011 will represent the state at Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City, N.J., the week of Oct. 2-7 at the National Senior America Pageant.

The candidates are Debbie Glisson, Aberdeen; Jonnie Ryon, Belinda Rogers and Lori Benoit, Pinehurst; Jean Garner, Denton; Judy Summerlin, Autryville; Doris Allred, Ramseur; Sherry Pinedo, Oak Ridge; Judy Butler, Welcome; Rebecca Handley, Grimesland; Vickie Welch, Sophia; and Shirley Jones-Byrd, Thomasville.

Tickets are available for $8 by calling Beverly Wetherbie, at (910) 944-8171. Tickets are also available at Lydia's Consignment, in Pinehurst, Rose Cottage and Jazzy's, in Southern Pines, and will be available at the door on May 24.
