Conservative Health Care?

Having just come back from the U.K., it is very evident that its new conservative government is trying to steer its National Health System toward the U.S. style. Yet here, Obamacare is trying to emulate the NHS of the U.K.

Our friend in Scotland, after waiting four months for a sinus operation, was told to report to the hospital (some 80 miles away) at 6:15 a.m. Most operations here do not start until 9 a.m. unless it is an emergency. She was to be the second patient to be operated on. The operation started after 1 p.m.

Upon awaking from anesthesia, she found herself in a 16-bed ward with six women, and next to her bed, a man in his bed. This co-ed ward was a very popular idea of the liberals some four to five years ago, as it utilized beds and wards more efficiently but was disliked by many patients as they shared a single bathroom per ward. The conservatives have stated they will stop this practice. Still to this day in the U.K., they are building 24-bed wards but with more bathrooms.

Well, I for one cannot wait until I get to wear a hospital gown as I walk down the ward to do my business in a room full of sick people whom I do not know. Should be fun! Thanks, Obama!

Both my husband and I have had to report as early as 6:30 am at Moore for proceedures we've had there. Additionally, we have both been put in rooms with different sexes for recovery. This year, our insurance advised us they no longer partner with our dentist and when checking, the nearest is in Fayetteville, a good 60 to 80 miles away. It seems the only difference is that we had to pay for our portion of all proceedures.

As a citizen of the United Kingdom, I wish Mr. Wallace would quit insulting the National Health Service claims are offensive to the men and women who work to make British people healthier than the US.

Also he would be well served to learn a little about the NHS. He might do well to visit the public library and learn about the Scotland Act of 1998. He would know that any action taken by the current Conservative / Liberal Democrat Parliament in Westminster would not change healthcare in Scotland as it is a devolved issue.

I have personally been treated on the National Health when I was a full time resident of the UK and once during a visit. As a non-resident, I was required to pay reasonable rates and received care that was adequate and met or exceeded those here in the US.

Mr. Wallace, please stop visiting our country if you don't like the way we chose to live. Enjoy the the 37th best healthcare system in the World (yes I was born a dual national and have overpaid for poor healthcare here).

That is a piece on the English National Health... Mr. Wallace talks about the Scottish National Health. They are funded separately...

Yeah, that's why the UK ranks 18th in the latest ranking of world healthcare while the US is at 37. But if paying more for a SHORTER life expectancy and a higher infant mortality rate is your idea of a fortunate result we will never agree. Insult what you know nothing about!

Here is the answer to cheaper health care. People don't need to live so long, to much time and money spent on keeping "dead people" alive. Hypochondriacs need a permanent prescription to Prozac, they clog up our medical system. We need more Urgent Cares where people can go for simple illnesses, scrapes etc. Also Docs need some of their school loans written off on their taxes over a fifteen year period. There needs to be a cap on medical lawsuits also, Attorneys and greedy insurance drive up the cost as much as greed Doctors.Enough for now, I need to run to the ER as my temp has spiked to 100 F.

Exercise and better eating habits which lead to reducing obesity would do wonders also.
